These patterns came from a group of samplers made during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, by girls whose ages ranged from eight to twelve years, commencing their formal education in embroidery.
Risograph printing is a technique that combines elements of screen printing with digital technology, functioning similarly to a photocopier. Each colour is printed separately using a different drum, so multi-coloured prints often require multiple passes through the machine. The result is a print with unique texture and character, often with slight variations or beautiful misalignments.
